Background The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an independent international non-governmental organization, working in 40+ countries throughout the world, and our primary mandate is to promote durable solutions for refugees and displaced populations. The DRC office in Nairobi is a Regional Office providing management support and strategic direction to DRC programs operating in East Africa & Great Lakes.Overall purpose of the role The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for the position of Consortium Manager to lead a consortium of partners in implementation of a project across Benishangul Gumuz, Ethiopia and Gedaref, Sudan. The project aims to support the resilience of areas and populations affected by forced displacement due to the conflict in Sudan, and to promote social cohesion among communities.The role is responsible for overall strategy and implementation, including management of the Consortium Management Unit, developing its role in Benishangul Gumuz and Gedaref and maintaining activities and deliverables as agreed with the Steering Committee.Qualified candidates must demonstrate capacity in leading an integrated project team from partner organisations, have senior-level experience across program and support functions, provide strategic direction and motivate a diverse team while building positive relationships with stakeholders from communities, local authorities, governments, donors, and NGOs. The preferred candidate has knowledge and experience in inclusive system approaches and gender transformative programming.The Consortium Manager holds overall responsibility for achievement of project results, ensuring deliverables on time and quality. The position ensures integrated vision among different project areas and actors, serves as principal donor contact, oversees risk management, and ensures learning and adaptation are embedded.Key responsibilities- Lead, oversee, and manage delivery of project results consistent with objectives and donor compliance.- Serve as secretary to the Steering Committee to engage consortium members, solve challenges, and manage results.- Lead project delivery: strategy, performance management, component design, team management, research, and learning.- Maintain single programmatic and technical approach, coordinate DRC and partners, ensure resource access.- Principal contact with donor, managing communications and updates on delivery, risks, and challenges.- Active risk management and fostering risk culture, inform donor and Steering Committee, ensure business continuity planning.- Manage relationships with authorities and stakeholders; represent project in meetings.- Ensure Safety and Security Plans are implemented and adapted as needed.About youYou are expected to demonstrate five core competencies: striving for excellence, collaborating, taking the lead, communicating, and demonstrating integrity.Education Degree in political science, international development, social work, humanitarian law, migration or related field.Experience and technical competencies- Minimum 7 years' experience in international humanitarian or development aid including roles such as Consortium Manager, Project Manager, or Programme Advisor.- At least 3 years’ people management experience.- Experience managing large multi-location programs in complex environments and coordinating multi-partner teams.- Expertise in inclusive systems, health & nutrition, protection & gender, peacebuilding or resilience programming.- Experience in project management, budget monitoring, financial forecasting, and risk management.- Ability to build relationships with governments, donors, partners, and stakeholders.Languages Full professional English required; Amharic, Arabic, or French skills are assets.Conditions Contract until 31 December 2027, possible extension. Salary per DRC employment terms, band F - Management. Duty station: Ethiopia or Sudan. Availability: ASAP.
