About the job
As Chief of Social Policy, you will provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to advance UNICEF’s social policy and social protection agenda in Burkina Faso. You will lead efforts to strengthen shock-responsive and child-sensitive social protection systems, improve the generation and use of evidence on child poverty and vulnerability, and promote more equitable and effective public investments in children.
You will work closely with Government, development and humanitarian partners, UN agencies and UNICEF programme teams to translate evidence into policy and scalable solutions for children. You will also play a key role in strengthening linkages between social protection and essential services, supporting inclusive local governance, and ensuring that social policy interventions contribute to integrated results for children across the eight priority regions.
Through strategic partnerships, policy dialogue, evidence generation and advocacy, you will help strengthen national systems and create sustainable pathways for the most vulnerable children and families to access the services and support they need, including in fragile and shock-affected settings.

Minimum Requirements
- Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in one of the following fields is required: Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, or another relevant technical field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience is required.
- Skills: The role requires strong skills in Data Analysis, Advocacy, Budget Analysis, Government Engagement, Programme Management, and Strategic Leadership.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in French and English is required.
Desirables
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as a strong asset.
- Background and/or familiarity with emergency is considered as a strong asset.
- Experience in shock-responsive social protection programming is considered an asset
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
