Job Summary
Based in Goma, the main objective of the Great Lakes Regional Analyst is to complement and enhance the strategic decision-making of NGOs conducting humanitarian operations in the DRC and wider region. This will be accomplished by examining the interplay between regional dynamics, including socioeconomic and geopolitical trends, to provide insight into how they shape regional humanitarian safety and access.
Major Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Regularly engage regional level audiences to address and understand relevant access and safety concerns from a regional perspective.
- Prepare and produce reports, presentations, and thematic briefing notes that assist NGO partners in making risk management and access decisions.
- Manage and deliver ad-hoc products on emerging regional challenges to humanitarian safety and access.
- Convene and contribute to regional NGO coordination meetings and fora with humanitarian counterparts.
Program Development
- Monitor international and regional developments through a diverse range of sources.
- Cultivate an active network of contacts within the broader humanitarian community.
- Effectively represent and protect INSO's principles of independence, impartiality and neutrality.
Requirements
- 3+ years of working experience in an analytical capacity, preferably in conflict or post-conflict contexts
- Exemplary command of French and professional proficiency in English
- Graduate-level education in political science, history, or humanitarian studies
- Proven ability to provide operationally relevant analysis
Terms & Conditions
12-month contract based in Goma, DR Congo. €5,000 per month salary, housing in a shared accommodation, 4 calendar days annual leave per month, 7 calendar days R&R every 2 months with €1250 each R&R cycle, global medical coverage and $200,000 AD&D coverage.
