About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions.

About the Role

The Tech Specialist will own the end-to-end technical delivery of our field and internal solutions. You will use approved AI coding tools and development agents to accelerate architecture, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Location: Minna, Nigeria

Contract Duration: 2 years

Responsibilities:

  • Product & Software Development — 40%: Design, build, and maintain mobile, web, backend, and data solutions. Develop reliable digital workflows that support both online and offline use. Build scalable, maintainable features that support operational and business requirements.
  • Architecture & Data — 20%: Integrate systems, data, and services to deliver a seamless user experience. Contribute to the technical architecture and ongoing evolution of the platform. Design secure and scalable data models, APIs, and integration patterns.
  • Engineering Productivity & AI — 10%: Support the platform's growth from early-stage deployment to large-scale operations. Use modern development tools, including approved AI-assisted engineering tools, to improve delivery speed and quality.
  • Security, Quality & Reliability — 20%: Follow secure software development and data-protection practices. Implement appropriate access controls, auditability, monitoring, and operational safeguards.
  • Collaboration & Delivery — 10%: Translate product and business requirements into practical technical solutions. Collaborate with product, design, operations, and other stakeholders throughout delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience and 3 years of experience delivering production full-stack applications.
  • Advanced full-stack engineering across mobile, web, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with Flutter, React Native, Kotlin, or another Android-capable framework.
  • Strong experience with React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, or a comparable web framework.
  • Strong backend experience using TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Java, C#/.NET, Go, or a comparable production stack.
  • Experience with cloud deployment, containers, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, backups, recovery, and infrastructure automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools safely and productively.
